Tripoli: The Minister of Housing and Construction in the Government of National Unity, Abu Bakr Al-Ghawi, engaged in discussions today with German and international companies about plans to develop the cities of Tripoli and Benghazi. The talks are part of a broader initiative to enhance infrastructure and urban planning in these cities.
According to Libyan News Agency, the media office of the ministry stated that this meeting is a part of the government’s comprehensive effort to advance infrastructure development across 20 Libyan cities, with Tripoli being the initial focus. The development plan involves eight key sectors, including the preparation of general plans and the enhancement of sewage, water, and electricity networks. In addition, there is an ambitious “Tripoli 2050” project aimed at establishing a smart city.
The media office further explained that the meeting also addressed plans for Greater Benghazi. The international company WSP presented proposals that align with the development vision, cover
ing infrastructure over an area of 35,000 hectares. Through these international partnerships, the national government reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and improving the quality of life for citizens across various Libyan cities.
The meeting saw the participation of the Director General of the Housing and Utilities Projects Authority and the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Urban Planning Authority.
