Al-Dabaiba: The delay in addressing the issue of fuel and its alternatives is unacceptable.

Tripoli: Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, said that the delay in addressing the issue of fuel and its alternatives, which has become a drain on the state budget, and the citizen does not benefit from, is unacceptable.

This came during a meeting held by ‘Dabaiba’ today, Monday, with the committee to study alternatives to fuels, in the presence of the designated ministers of finance, economy and trade, to discuss the progress of the committee’s work and the results it reached, according to what was agreed upon in the last meeting, which determined the study of the General Electricity Company’s consumption of crude oil, gas and quantities consumed by the Brega Oil Marketing Company, and proposed alternatives to lifting fuel subsidies.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the need to provide support alternatives and present them to citizens, provide community ideas so that their role is important in decision-making, and work to clarify the project to citizens i
n terms of its positives, negatives, and obstacles that stand in the way of its implementation, in addition to studying the direct and indirect impact of this file.

Al-Dabaiba also stressed the need to confront reality and explain it to the citizen who has been affected by this file for many years, so that he can be a partner in making the necessary decision to fix this file and create trust between the citizen and the state.

The Chairman of the Committee, Director of the Financial Resources Department at the Ministry of Finance, gave a detailed presentation in which he explained the experiences of Arab countries in removing subsidies, and the steps taken regarding support and creating social protection for vulnerable groups in society, in addition to the quantities consumed by the Electricity Company of oil and gas, which represent a high percentage of expenses
