Al-Baour Engages with EU for Enhanced Cooperation and Airspace Access

Tripoli: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, convened with the European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, and the Head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission, Federic Petersen. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and addressing the restrictions imposed on Libyan flights to European airspace.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Ministry highlighted on its official page that the dialogue aimed at enhancing collaboration between Libya and the European Union across various sectors of mutual interest. The meeting underscored the importance of supporting development, stability efforts, and fortifying the partnership between the two entities. Both parties also shared perspectives on pertinent regional and international issues.

The Ministry further elaborated that the discussions included the potential lifting of restrictions on Libyan flights to European airspace, coordinated with the Civil Aviation Authority. Additionally, the meeting explored programs aimed at enhancing the efficiency and capacity-building of Libyan institutions. There was a mutual emphasis on the need for ongoing coordination and consultation to fulfill shared interests.

The meeting was also attended by the Director of the European Affairs Department, Abubakr Ibrahim Al-Tawil, and the Head of the European Union Section, Musab Hamza.
