Tripoli: Abdullah Al-Lafi, a member of the Presidential Council, held a meeting with the UK Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, to deliberate on the latest political and security developments in Libya, particularly focusing on the situation in Tripoli. The discussions aimed at addressing the ongoing efforts to maintain calm and enhance stability in the region.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Presidential Council’s media office outlined that the meeting reviewed efforts to consolidate calm and strengthen stability, emphasizing the Presidential Council’s pivotal role as the supreme military authority in Libya. The Council is actively engaged in rebuilding state institutions founded on national consensus and comprehensive stability.
The media office further reported that the British Ambassador expressed his country’s full support for the Presidential Council’s initiatives to maintain calm and ensure security. He commended the Council’s commitment to managing the current phase with wisdom and responsibili
ty, prioritizing civilian protection and the preservation of state institutions.
Al-Lafi reiterated the Council’s dedication to supporting the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and engaging constructively with the outcomes of its advisory committee. He highlighted that establishing the necessary conditions for holding elections is a top national priority, essential for steering the country toward enduring peace and sustainable stability.
