A security campaign to monitor cafes and hotels in Basra areas

A joint security force carried out a campaign to monitor cafes spread across all areas of Basra, and hold accountable those who violate legal controls.

The head of the Security Committee in the Basra Provincial Council, Aqeel Al-Fariji, said in a press statement following a meeting held at the police headquarters: ‘There is an initiative by the Basra Police Commander, Major General Latif Al-Saad, to form a joint security team that includes intelligence, combating organized crime, combating narcotics and psychotropic substances, health oversight, national security, and the leadership of the governorate police, to monitor the cafes spread throughout Basra areas, and hold accountable those who violate the legal controls.’

He explained: ‘The security team began a campaign on Thursday evening against cafes spread throughout the governorate according to intelligence information about the presence of people wanted by the judiciary and accused of drug trafficking exploiting some cafes,’ indicating: ‘The campaign w
ill include all restaurants and hotels to follow up on violators of the law.
