(120) Libyan personalities to launch an initiative for elections

Tripoli, 16 November, 2022 (LANA) – (120) Libyan leadership figures intend to organize a press conference next Saturday in the capital, Tripoli, to announce the launch of an election initiative aimed at restoring the right of Libyans to choose new leaders and create a better tomorrow.

According to the press release, which the Libyan News Agency received a copy of, (120) leading personalities from the executive and legislative authorities, as well as mayors of municipalities, leaders from civil society, and political parties intend, next Saturday, to put forward a coherent initiative to break the current impasse and restore the right of the Libyan people to hold elections in Confronting those they called insisting on perpetuating power, money, and the benefits provided to them by a system of corruption and nepotism.

The organizers stated in their statement that this initiative will be announced at a press conference on November 19 from 10:30 am to 12 noon in the Royal Palace in central Tripoli, next to the National Oil Corporation.

The organizers attributed the launch of the initiative to the fact that since 2014, and for eight years, the Libyans were not allowed to choose their political leaders, and what they called the power-sharing agreements in Skhirat and Geneva did not succeed in achieving any of its promises, whether with regard to avoiding conflict, uniting institutions, or holding elections, and collapsed during A year of its establishment, and the painful result is five governments, including parallel governments, and four wars that claimed the lives of nearly ten thousand Libyans.
