Welcomes Resumption of Elections in Several Municipalities

Tripoli: Prime Minister Abdelhamid Dbaiba of the Government of National Unity welcomed on Saturday the resumption of the electoral process in the municipalities of Benghazi, Sabha, Sirte, Tobruk, Tokra, Qasr al-Jedi, Qaminis, Suluq, and Abyar, as part of the third phase of municipal council elections, which began last August.

According to Libyan News Agency, Dbaiba explained that the ballot box remains the best path, one that has been repeatedly called for, as it is the safest way to express the will of the Libyan people and build legitimate institutions that represent them.

He emphasized that the success of the municipal elections is a fundamental pillar supporting the holding of parliamentary and presidential elections throughout the country, achieving stability, and establishing the rule of law and strong institutions.
