USA and France Emphasize the Importance of the Libyan Path

Washington: Senior US Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, met with the Director of the North Africa and Middle East Department at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Romaric Rouignan, to discuss the latest developments in Libya and ways to support international efforts aimed at strengthening stability and advancing the political process. According to Libyan News Agency, Boulos stated in a post on his X platform: "Regarding Libya, we discussed a comprehensive, Libyan-led process to unify the country's institutions, in line with the UN-sponsored political roadmap." The meeting underscored the commitment of both the USA and France to facilitate a Libyan-driven initiative that aligns with international goals for peace and unity in the region. The discussions highlighted the importance of a UN-supported framework that is inclusive of all Libyan stakeholders. Both officials emphasized the need for a cohesive approach to address the political and institutional challenges facing Libya, with the aim of building a sustainable peace.
