Tripoli, The US has renewed its support for a unified stable Libya, and opposition to military actions in the entire Libyan territories.
This came in a tweet by US Assistant Secretary of state for Middle East Affairs Joey Hood, posted to the US Embassy SMS page.
‘We strongly oppose any military escalation, and all foreign interventions would only deepen and prolong the conflict’, he said.
‘The US supports a sovereign, stable and unified Libya, without foreign intervention, a state that can fight terrorism inside its borders’, he added.
However, Hood said in a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Najla Al Mangoush during a visit to Libya on May 18 ‘we will continue to work closely with the Government of National Unity as it prepares for elections and an end to the conflict.’
