US-Libya Security Cooperation Supports Army Unification and Sovereignty

Tripoli: The US Embassy in Libya has emphasized that the security cooperation between the United States and Libya is instrumental in supporting Libyan-led efforts to unify the national army and uphold the sovereignty of Libya. This significant statement highlights the ongoing commitment of the United States to contribute positively to the stability and security of the North African nation.

According to Libyan News Agency, the embassy conveyed this message through a tweet on its -X- platform account, detailing the visit of high-ranking US officials to Libya. During the period from February 3 to 6, Deputy Commander of AFRICOM Lieutenant General John Brennan, Brigadier General Rose Kravory, and Charg© d’Affaires of the US Embassy Jeremy Brent engaged in discussions with leaders in Tripoli, Benghazi, and Sirt. These meetings were part of the broader US efforts to aid Libya in achieving institutional unity.

The embassy stressed that achieving the unity of institutions is critical for Libya’s stability. The focus on promoting peace and stability in Libya is also viewed as a priority for US national security, underscoring the strategic importance of the region and the bilateral cooperation efforts between the two nations.
