New York: The US Ambassador to the United Nations emphasized the significance of military integration in supporting Libya’s sovereignty during a recent session of the UN Security Council. The ambassador underscored that the meeting of the International Follow-up Committee for the Berlin Process presented an opportunity for the international community to express its backing for a political process led and owned by Libya.
According to Libyan News Agency, the ambassador highlighted the importance of maintaining the independence of key Libyan institutions, such as the Central Bank and the National Oil Corporation, as essential to ensuring the country’s stability. She further stated that military integration is crucial to prevent Libya from becoming entangled in regional conflicts, aligning with the stance of the United States.
The ambassador encouraged efforts towards security integration between Libya’s East and West regions and expressed support for the renewal of the arms embargo. Additionally, she noted that the Libyan populace has clearly communicated their reluctance to engage in conflicts occurring in the Sahel region and Sudan.
