Tripoli: The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) reiterated its ongoing cooperation with the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) to bolster its operational capabilities and foster Libyans’ trust in the electoral process’s credibility.
According to Libyan News Agency, UNSMIL highlighted that the commission has established legal mechanisms and procedures to appeal election results, which are designed to ensure transparency and integrity. These measures aim to strengthen the legitimacy of upcoming elections in Libya.
The mission stated that supporting the commission is part of its broader efforts to enhance citizens’ confidence in national institutions. UNSMIL’s assistance seeks to help these institutions organize inclusive and credible elections that accurately represent the will of Libyans nationwide.
UNSMIL further noted that the electoral process is an ongoing cycle, requiring continuous monitoring, as well as technical and institutional support. The mission reaffirmed its commitment to supporting this process in accordance with the political roadmap established under UN guidance.
