Tripoli: The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has called on the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to promptly fulfill their responsibilities and advance the critical steps of the political roadmap.
According to Libyan News Agency, this appeal followed discussions led by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya (SRSG), Hanna Tetteh, with around 40 members of the High Council of State concerning the roadmap’s implementation.
The members voiced strong support for the roadmap, viewing it as the most viable path toward a comprehensive political resolution. They committed to hasten practical measures, which include the restructuring of the High National Elections Commission and progressing with necessary amendments to the electoral framework to facilitate free and fair elections.
