UN Official Emphasizes Central Bank of Libya’s Independence for Economic Reform

Tripoli: Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and UN Resident Coordinator in Libya, Ulrika Richardson, highlighted the importance of maintaining the Central Bank of Libya’s (CBL) independence from political tensions during her participation in the annual Banking Sector Development Forum. She joined a panel with experts to discuss the significance of safeguarding the CBL’s decision-making processes from conflict and political influence.

According to Libyan News Agency, Richardson expressed that expert-facilitated discussions are vital for advancing Libya’s economic reform agenda. She emphasized that such exchanges are crucial for supporting the country’s long-term stability and development.
