Tripoli: UN envoy Hanna Tetteh has urged Libyan political leaders to draw on the spirit of Eid al-Fitr to foster peace and stability in the nation. Her statement comes amid rising concerns about the ongoing political gridlock and economic challenges faced by the populace.

According to Libyan News Agency, Tetteh emphasized the importance of unity in her congratulatory message for Eid, encouraging political figures and institutions to work diligently for the prosperity of Libya. She shared insights from her meetings with citizens across the country, which highlighted their growing worries over the current situation.

During her time in Libya, Tetteh was inspired by the solidarity and compassion she witnessed among Libyans during Ramadan. She acknowledged their commitment to preserving their cultural traditions and stressed the importance of upholding human rights as a foundation for building trust and reconciliation.

Tetteh also addressed the plight of those spending Eid away from their families due to displacement, arbitrary arrests, or unlawful detention. She called on authorities to uphold human rights values, which are vital for creating an inclusive society that aligns with the aspirations of all Libyans.
