UN Deputy Special Representative Reaffirms Commitment to Libyan-Led Political Solution

Tripoli: UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Stephanie Koury, has reaffirmed the United Nations Support Mission in Libya's commitment to fostering broad-based consultations that support a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political solution. During a meeting with representatives of the Fezzan National Political Gathering, Koury highlighted Fezzan's unique history, geography, and experiences as crucial elements in the political process. According to Libyan News Agency, the discussions with dignitaries and political figures from the Fezzan region focused on the political process, including the Structured Dialogue recommendations. Emphasis was placed on the importance of meaningful participation from all regions and setting priorities for Fezzan in future governance, development, and stabilization efforts. Participants underscored Fezzan's significance in building a Libyan state and its institutions. They emphasized the necessity of ensuring Fezzan's active role in shapi ng Libya's future and expressed their support for dialogue and UN-facilitated efforts aimed at advancing a peaceful resolution to the political crisis.
