UK Ambassador to UN Security Council Affirms Support for Tetteh’s Work in Implementing Roadmap

Tripoli: The United Kingdom's representative to the United Nations Security Council affirmed her country's support for the work of the UN envoy to Libya, Hanna Tetteh, and her efforts to facilitate the implementation of the political roadmap. In remarks delivered during today's Security Council session on the situation in Libya, she said that Libyans want to hold elections and establish unified, accountable institutions, calling on Libyan leaders to work toward implementing the roadmap. According to Libyan News Agency, she added that there are two key steps that Libyan leaders should take: implementing the unified budget and finalizing the 4+4 agreement. The British representative stressed that progress in the political process supports stability in Libya and contributes to the stability of the dinar and fuel supply, while delays in the political process increase concerns over stability. She noted that, one year after the roadmap was adopted, Libyan leaders have yet to implement its provisions. She warned t hat organized migration-related crimes are creating growing protection risks, including harassment and forced transfer, and threaten to fuel further instability in Libya.
