Tripoli: U.S. Special Envoy Ambassador Richard Norland emphasized the necessity of engaging all segments of Libyan society to achieve a fully successful political transition in Libya. This statement was made through a tweet by the U.S. Embassy today.
According to Libyan News Agency, Ambassador Norland, alongside Chargé d’Affaires Jeremy Berndt, expressed their satisfaction in meeting with a distinguished group of women activists, academics, legal scholars, and a female member of the security sector. These individuals are committed to enhancing women’s political involvement across Libya.
Ambassador Norland also acknowledged the ongoing UN-led 16 days of activism, which aims to combat violence against women and girls. He commended the network for their dedicated efforts to tackle this critical issue, identifying it as a fundamental factor contributing to the political marginalization of women in the country.
