Manama, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, has affirmed that the supportive stance of the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, towards the Palestinians is unequivocal.
He indicated that Bahrain firmly supports the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights to establish their independent state, and believes that there would be no stability in the Middle East without securing those rights to the Palestinians.
He pointed out that HM King Hamad always affirmed that the two-state solution is the only guarantor for promoting coexistence and ending the conflict, and that diplomacy is the only way to settle all disputes, adding that the kingdom backs all Arab, regional and international efforts to contain the dangerous crisis and halt the ongoing military operations across the Palestinian territories.
Speaker Al Musallam underlined parliamentary support for HM the King’s call for providing protection for innocent civilians from both sides, releasing all detainees and hostages, facilitating entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, as per the International Humanitarian Law, and categorical rejection of the displacement of Gazans from their lands. He said this was the only feasible track to spare the region a humanitarian catastrophe of endless repercussions.
Al Musallam lauded HM the King’s address to the Cairo Peace Summit, hosted by Egypt under the chairmanship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
He added that the peoples of the region and the world expect the Cairo Peace Summit to contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people immediately, as well as look forward to the implementation of all its outcomes towards just, comprehensive and sustainable peace.
The Speaker of the Council of Representatives valued highly the “pivotal and historic” role played by Egypt, under the leadership of President El Sisi, in supporting the Palestinian cause, protecting Arab national security, enhancing joint Arab action and solidarity, as well as achieving security and stability for the region and its people.
