Turkish Foreign Minister Advocates Libyan-Led Dialogue for Crisis Resolution

Istanbul:Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that a sincere, Libyan-led dialogue is essential for achieving a lasting solution to the ongoing crisis in Libya. He expressed optimism that such an approach could soon lead to maintaining calm and paving the way toward a sustainable settlement.

According to Libyan News Agency, Fidan delivered this message during a speech at the opening of the 9th Istanbul Mediation Conference. He highlighted Turkey's efforts in Libya as an example of building trust through mutual consent, confidence, and inclusivity, which he identified as critical components for successful mediation.

Fidan warned that without adopting sincere dialogue, opposing positions might escalate disputes into violence. He emphasized the need for understanding, patience, and flexibility, while also advocating for open communication channels among the parties involved. Turkey aims to transform mediation from merely a diplomatic tool into a strategic approach by fostering conditions conducive to self-mediated solutions, thus enhancing regional and international security and stability.

He further articulated the importance of regional ownership, stressing that countries should play a primary role in resolving their own crises without external imposition. Fidan underscored that stability must be cultivated internally, with relevant parties actively participating in crafting responsive settlements.

The Turkish Foreign Minister concluded by underscoring the significance of integrating mediation into political strategy through sincere dialogue, sustained engagement, and regional ownership to improve the chances of conflict resolution and bolster security and stability on both regional and international levels.
