Algiers: Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Nafti and Algerian Minister of State and Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf convened on the sidelines of the International Conference on Crimes of Colonialism in Africa and the 12th Annual Forum on Peace and Security in Africa, held in Algiers from November 30 to December 2, 2025. Their discussions centered around several pressing Arab and African issues, with a particular focus on developments in Libya.
According to Libyan News Agency, the ministers emphasized the importance of reinforcing the tripartite Tunisian-Algerian-Egyptian mechanism on Libya. Both parties agreed on the necessity of supporting a Libyan-led solution to the ongoing crisis, which aims to stabilize the country while preserving its unity and sovereignty. They expressed a joint commitment to advancing the political process in Libya, encouraging efforts towards a comprehensive and peaceful settlement that would enhance regional security and stability in the Maghreb region.
The discussions also extended
to broader issues concerning peace, security, and development across Africa. Nafti and Attaf stressed the significance of continued collaboration with international partners to fortify Africa’s position in global organizations and forums, advocating for the continent’s priorities and issues on the international stage.
