Tripoli: Tripoli’s Council of Elders and Notables has condemned the ongoing conflict in the city’s streets, calling for the removal of armed groups. The Council has held the Presidential Council, the Government of National Unity, and the Chief of Staff, along with all conflicting parties, responsible for safeguarding civilians and their properties.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Council emphasized that the situation in Tripoli poses a threat to the security and safety of residents and undermines stability. It has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urged conflicting parties to protect civilians from the consequences of armed clashes.
The Council has reiterated its previous demands for the withdrawal of all armed factions from Tripoli. It has called for the end of any armed presence that operates outside the purview of state authority, emphasizing the need for security to be enforced through official institutions.
Additionally, the Council has urged the Mayor of Central Tripoli and the Municipal Council to adopt a firm stance against the conflict. It has called for practical measures to ensure the removal of armed groups from the city center, aiming to safeguard the security of residents and the integrity of the city’s institutions.
