The United Nations Support Mission in Libya launches the Mines Reduction Week.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya announced today, Sunday, the launch of the Mine Reduction Week, with the aim of raising awareness of the dangers of unexploded ordnance.

The mission stated through its Facebook account that the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) has removed 28,394 pieces of explosive materials in Libya, in cooperation with Libyan partners, since 2022, noting that more than 1.1 million pieces of explosive remnants of war have been disposed of in Libya since 2011.

The mission confirmed that the United Nations Mine Action Service has been working continuously with Libyan partners to clear explosive remnants of war since 2011 in Libya.
