Tripoli The founding forum of the High Commission for National Reconciliation was launched in Tripoli, Monday, in the presence of the Presidency Council members, Musa Al-Koni and Abdullah Al-Lafi, the Minister of Justice, the Minister of State for Immigration Affairs, the representative of the African Union and the envoy of the United Nations Development Program. The participants in the two-day forum will discuss four themes dealing with the elaboration of the founding framework of the Supreme Commission for National Reconciliation and its legal mandate, “determining the main and subsidiary objectives and the organizational structure of the Commission, the functions of the subsidiary bodies, the formulation of criteria to assume their duties, the determination of the selection mechanism and the general policies, and proposing and formulating recommendations for their establishment.

A member of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, confirmed in his speech that this forum was held to build peace in our beloved country, which has suffered years of conflicts.

In his speech, he added that reconciliation between the Libyan people will make a change from the march of the people and the state, stressing that the Presidency Council is keen on making the founding forum of the High Commission for National Reconciliation succeed and coming up with decisions that push towards national reconciliation.

Al-Koni stressed the necessity of involving national expertise in this project to achieve the desired stability and prosperity and achieve national reconciliation in our country to establish a real and lasting peace.

For his part, Minister of State for Displaced Affairs and Human Rights Ahmed Abu Khuzam said, “The national reconciliation project does not represent the transitional stage only, but rather is a permanent project to advance our country, as well as a step towards consolidating the concept of reconciliation and settling the conditions of the displaced and improving their life conditions so that the Government of National Unity can consolidate stability in our country.” .

The United Nations Resident Representative for Humanitarian Support in Libya called for activating efforts to unify national reconciliation, return the displaced to their areas and compensate them for the damage they suffered,

He affirmed the support of the United Nations Mission for the Government of National Unity to come up with recommendations that would achieve national reconciliation, peace and prosperity.

The ambassador of the African Union participated in the forum (Wahida Al Ayyari) through the closed circle with a speech in which she stressed the need to achieve national reconciliation, “and that the African Union will provide consultation, support and rationalization for the national reconciliation project.

Aboudah, a legal advisor at the High Commission for Reconciliation, also spoke at this universal forum on presenting the legal foundations and consensus between the Libyan people to develop a legal framework for national reconciliation that promotes justice that requires a lot of work with the participation of all.
