The President of the Republic visits the University of Bologna and stresses the importance of strengthening its relations with Iraqi universities

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, visited today, Tuesday, the University of Bologna, one of the oldest universities in the world, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, and the Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faiq Jabro, in addition to a number of advisors and officials.

At the beginning of the visit, the President of the Republic met with the President of the Italian University of Bologna, Professor Giovanni Mollari. During the meeting, the President expressed his happiness at visiting the university, which is one of the most prestigious universities in Italy and the world. The importance of strengthening relations between the University of Bologna and Iraqi universities, and consolidating joint cooperation to develop Higher education in Iraq and strengthening scientific sobriety in academic circles.

After that, the President of the Republic and his accompanying delegation attended the Eighth Centenary Hall at the university in the presence of a delegation from the teaching staff at the university, where the President of the University delivered a speech in which he welcomed the President of the Republic, reviewing the progress of education in its faculties and existing cooperation projects between them and Iraqi universities and prospects for future cooperation.

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, delivered a speech in which he expressed his happiness at his first visit to this university, which is one of the oldest universities and has graduated many personalities that influenced humanity.

The President emphasized that Iraq is the cradle of civilizations dating back to (6) thousand years BC, and among them man learned to read and write for the first time, and the first law in the history of humanity was enacted.

The President added: “| Our past is full and beautiful with art, literature and science, and we had in Baghdad the House of Wisdom,” noting that the cities of Iraq are experiencing security stability after our security forces liberated all cities from terrorism and ISIS gangs, and the elected government has developed a program that meets the aspirations of the Iraqis. “.

The President affirmed: “Our relations with Italy are good and we are keen to develop and strengthen them,” referring to the meeting with the Italian President and senior officials in Italy, expressing his appreciation and gratitude to them for the kind reception.

The President also wrote a word in the honor roll, in which he expressed his happiness at visiting the University of Bologna, which is one of the oldest universities in the world, and one of the most important beacons for the development of sciences, arts and literature, since its first centuries of foundation.

In conclusion, the President of the University, Professor Giovanni Mollari, presented an honorary gift in the name of the University to the President of the Republic, which was the silver seal of the University. The President also presented the President of the University with a memorial gift symbolizing the archaeological sites in Iraq.

The president also met with a group of Iraqi students at the University of Bologna, and urged them to make more efforts in their academic career to achieve the highest ranks and academic degrees to serve their country and people.
