The President of the Republic confirms work on the dams project (Water Harvesting) to conserve water and release it as needed

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, confirmed work on the dams project (Water Harvesting) to conserve water and release it as needed.

A presidential statement stated: “The President met today, Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab Abdullah, and in the meeting, they discussed developments in the situation regarding the water scarcity that the country suffers from.”

The President referred to “the efforts being made to legislate the Supreme Council for Water Law adopted by the Presidency of the Republic, and to work on the dams project (water harvesting) to conserve water and release it as needed.”

He congratulated the Minister on the success of his campaign to remove unlicensed fish ponds. He stressed the need to follow diplomatic methods with the source countries to secure a fair and sufficient share of water in a way that meets the needs of citizens and the agricultural sector.

For his part, the Minister affirmed the Ministry’s keenness in all its joints and cadres to follow the President’s directives in this regard, referring to the plans drawn up to address waste in water and confront the negative effects of climate change.
