The Presidency Council holds expanded security meeting on the killing of a number of illegal immigrants in Sabratha.

Tripoli, 11 October 2022 (Lana) The President of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al Mnefi, and Vice President Abdullah Al-Lafi, held on Monday an expanded security meeting on the killing of a number of illegal immigrants in Sabratha.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, the Acting Minister of Interior, the Head of the General Intelligence Service, the Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces, the Head of the Internal Security Service, the Head of the Illegal Migration Service, mayors of municipalities and security directors, Sabratha, Zawiya, Sorman and Zuwara.

According to the Council’s Communication Office, the meeting focused on ways to combat organized cross-border crime, maintain security, especially maritime border security, prevent the movement of illegal migrants through the sea, cut off all routes for human traffickers in areas where the phenomenon of human smuggling is active, and form an investigation committee to follow up on this issue.

The Presidential Council stressed the need to reveal the circumstances of this case, to know the names of those involved in this heinous crime as soon as possible, and to refer the perpetrators to the competent authorities.
