The Peace And Security Council Of The African Union Is Holding A Session Today At The Ministerial Level To Discuss The Situation In Libya And Ways To Support The Political Process.

Algeria, The Peace and Security Council of the African Union will discuss, in a session held today, Tuesday, at the ministerial level, the situation in Libya and ways to support the political process.

The Algerian News Agency said that the meeting aims to ensure the continuation of the progress made so far in the field of dialogue and peace, especially by supporting the efforts of the United Nations envoy and assisting the Government of National Unity in its tasks.

The meeting will discuss the means that the African Union is likely to use to support the political process in Libya, which is supposed to lead to the elections on December 24th.

During the meeting, the African Union’s contribution to the ceasefire monitoring mechanism in Libya will also be discussed, and the means that should be used to support the Libyan authorities in national reconciliation.

In addition, the African Peace and Security Council will discuss concrete measures that must be taken to prevent foreign intervention in Libya, and the implementation of the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations.
