The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Passports discuss organizing foreigners’ obtaining visas through Libyan consulates and embassies abroad.

The meeting held at the Cabinet Office discussed the regulation of foreigners obtaining visas through Libyan consulates and embassies abroad.

The Department of Passports and Nationality presented a visual presentation showing the mechanism for granting visas to foreigners previously, and the results of its first meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation regarding the development of a practical mechanism and the introduction of technology for granting and regulating visas.

During the meeting, it was agreed to launch an electronic system for submitting a visa, designed according to the proposal of the Passports Authority, and to review the executive regulations of the Passports Law regarding visa granting prices and the donor.

It was also agreed that Libya’s missions abroad, whether they are embassies or consulates, are the only entity authorized to receive documents in paper or electronic form and to grant a visa in accordance with the terms and conditions in which coordination takes place between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Passports Authority, with the need to launch the electronic system to facilitate procedures for applicants and relevant authorities.

The meeting included the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, the Deputy Director of the Passports and Nationality Authority, the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Post and Telecommunications Holding Company, the Director of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and a number of department directors at the Audit Bureau and the Passports and Nationality Authority.
