The Iraqi-Kuwaiti joint committee held its work to discuss the memorandum of understanding regarding the joint oil fields between the two countries.
A statements by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Legal Affairs, Omar Al-Barzanji, headed the Iraqi delegation for the work of the joint committee (Iraqi-Kuwaiti), with the participation of representatives of the Prime Ministry, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Oil, the National Security Advisers, and the joint work team between Iraq and Kuwait to discuss the memorandum of understanding on joint oil fields. between the two countries, which was held in Kuwait for the period 3- 5/7/2023, while the Kuwaiti side was chaired by the Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs, Hamad Rashid Ayed Al-Marri, and representatives of the relevant Kuwaiti authorities.
According to the statement, the two sides discussed mechanisms for investing in the joint oil fields located on the border strip for the benefit of the two neighboring countries.
During the meetings, Al-Barzanji stressed the importance of these understandings, which come after the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding concluded between the two neighboring countries, expressing the Iraqi government's full readiness to cooperate with the brothers in the State of Kuwait in this file and others, to overcome all obstacles that impede joint work.
According to the statement, the work of the meetings ended with positive results and outputs represented in the agreement to cooperate in the field of developing mechanisms that can be relied upon in jointly managing this file concerned with economic investment in a way that guarantee the rights of the two brotherly countries, with an emphasis on continuing to hold meetings periodically to ensure reaching understandings that achieve the desired goal. .”
