Teachers’ Union to Suspend Sit-In After Agreement with Government


Tripoli:The General Teachers’ Union announced it will suspend its sit-in starting tomorrow, following a meeting held between the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, and the Teachers’ Union, with the Minister of Finance, Rashed Abu Ghaffa, also in attendance.



According to Libyan News Agency, during the meeting, Prime Minister Dbeibah made several decisions, including the adoption of a unified salary scale for all sectors to be implemented within October. He also decided to pay the teaching-period allowance for the current year after referral by the Ministry of Education, ensuring its continuity.



The union’s spokesperson highlighted other decisions taken by the Prime Minister. These include the payment of allowances for school principals and deputy principals with the October salary, issuing regulations to protect teachers, working to include teachers in the healthcare system, and calculating outstanding salary differences under Law No. 4 to safeguard teachers’ rights.



The General Teachers’ Union confirmed that the meeting culminated in an agreement on several measures to benefit teachers and the educational process.



Earlier, Prime Minister Dbeibah announced the resumption of the educational process starting tomorrow. This decision underscores a shared commitment to ensuring education stability and prioritizing children’s right to education.
