Tayani: We support the efforts of the UN envoy, Bathily, to hold elections in Libya.

The Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, “Antonio Tayani”, renewed today, Tuesday, his country’s support for the efforts of the United Nations envoy to Libya, “Abdullah Bathily” to hold elections in Libya.

Tayani said in a press conference at the Foreign Press Association in Italy, that his country supports the efforts of the United Nations envoy in Libya, Abdullah Bathily, to hold elections in the country as soon as possible and have a stable government, stressing that Italy is talking to everyone in Libya. Even with the commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar, “who in fact controls much of the east of the country.”

He added, “We provide patrol boats to the Coast Guard, funded by the European Union, to counter the departure of immigrants and illegal immigration, and we have reached agreements in the field of energy and we are working intensively with all the people who work in this country.”
