New York- Libya’s representative to the United Nations, Taher Al-Sunni, condemned the unfortunate events that occurred in the last period in the city of Sabratha, which resulted in the death of a number of migrants while trying to cross the sea via a boat.

In his speech during a Security Council session on Libya, Al-Sunni said that this act is individual and that the Office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Interior were able to arrest the perpetrators within 48 hours of the incident and they are now under investigation.

In his speech, Al-Sunni renewed the call to jointly confront the human smuggling gangs and their international networks, pointing out that these networks are united by common criminal interests in each of the countries of origin, transit and destination, and not only in Libya.
