The Swiss representative to the Security Council expressed her country’s welcome to the initiative of the UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, as well as regional initiatives aimed at strengthening dialogue between the Libyan parties.
In her speech during a session of the Security Council on Libya today, Tuesday, the Swiss delegate called for the need to hold free and fair elections in Libya as soon as possible, stressing the importance of international support in this context.
The Swiss delegate praised the progress in the field of security by the 5 + 5 Joint Military Committee with the formation of a joint military force and a liaison committee between neighboring countries, stressing that any progress at the security level must be accompanied by similar progress in the political field.
