New York, October 19, 2022 (LANA) – The spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stephane Dujarric, said that the UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, stressed during his recent meetings with the Libyans that the highest priority for the United Nations mission remains to support Libya in determining a consensual path towards honest and comprehensive elections as soon as possible.
In his briefing at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Tuesday, Dujarric said that the various Libyan parties welcomed Batili, expressing their readiness to work with him to find a political solution to the conflict.
Dujarric stressed that the UN envoy plans to consult with a wide range of stakeholders, including civil society, youth and women’s groups from all over Libya.
