Southern Electricity Transmission Discusses With GE The Rehabilitation Of Al-Faw Substation And Preparing It For The Gulf Connection With Kuwait

The Director General of the General Company for Electric Power Transmission in the Southern Region, Eng. Asaad Mohair Karim, discussed with representatives of the General Electric (GE) company the rehabilitation of Al-Faw (400) kV substation, in order to prepare it for electrical connection with the Gulf countries.

The media of the Electric Power Transmission in the Southern Region transmission in the south stated, “During the meeting, the needs of the station and its full rehabilitation were discussed, according to the study prepared by the committee formed by the Director General for this purpose.

It added, “The possibility of accelerating the work and overcoming the routine and the pressure of the time ceilings for completion was discussed, and it was agreed to start work immediately after conducting the field inspection of the station by the company’s representatives.”

It explained that “the Gulf linkage project enjoys great government interest, and is closely followed up by the minister personally”.
