Tripoli, 9 October 2022 (Lana) Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Processing Company announced the discovery of new stocks of oil and gas to enhance Libya’s reserves by means of a three-dimensional seismic survey in a total area of 3560 km2 in the Ghadames and Sirte basins.
The company said, on its website on Sunday, that it was able to achieve impressive results in the field of three-dimensional seismic survey in the basins of Ghadames and Sirte, despite the security and logistical conditions of these two basins located deep in the desert.
It added that the three-dimensional survey looks for oil and gas reservoirs, determines their extension, and evaluates the reserves of hydrogen coals, through a device that emits sound waves to the ground to search for rock cavities and the oil or gas reservoirs they contain.
It should be noted that the results achieved through these surveys reflected the quality of the evaluation and monitoring work carried out on a daily basis on seismic data, the accuracy in preparing the field of work for the implementation of these projects by the distinguished national elements of the exploration department of the company, and the high professionalism that characterized the Arab Company for Geophysical Exploration Services that implemented the project, the company added.
