Member of Parliament Joyce Bateman announces support for provincial ceremony

November 10, 2014 – Winnipeg – Veterans Affairs Canada

Joyce Bateman, Member of Parliament for Winnipeg South Centre, today announced Government of Canada funding to the Joint Veterans Association Parade Committee of Winnipeg for its Remembrance Day service. MP Bateman made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs.

The ceremony will include the singing of hymns and the laying of wreaths, followed by a parade of Veterans, members of the military and cadets. Local guides and scouts will also participate in the annual program. Last year, 4,500 citizens attended the event, including 1,200 youth.

  • The Joint Veterans Association Parade Committee of Winnipeg is receiving $5,000 through Veterans Affairs Canada’s Community Engagement Partnership Fund for the Service of Remembrance.
