Saudi Tourism Minister starts first visit to Bahrain

Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed bin Aqil al-Khateeb has today started his first official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Minister of Tourism Fatima bin Jaffar Al Sairafi welcomed the Saudi minister, describing the visit as an important step to further reinforce bilateral relations in line with visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Al Sairafi made the statement as she welcomed the Saudi minister and the accompanying delegation. She stressed the commitment of the ministry and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA) to exert all efforts to develop tourism cooperation and enhance the contribution of the hospitality sector to national development.

She commended the unprecedented strides of tourism in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting the surge in the number of tourists and the mega events being held across the country.

She also highlighted the strides of the hospitality sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, noting that the tourism indicators exceeded last year the performance benchmarks set in the tourism strategy 2022-2026.

She noted the importance of engaging private sector establishments, and investors in tourism and hospitality, in efforts to further bolster cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
