Russia Invited To Berline 2 On Libya On June 23.

Moscow, Russia has been officially invited to the Berlin 2 conference on Libya due to be convened on June 23.

The Russian Tass news agency quoted the Russian President Special Envoy Mikakhael Bugdanov as saying on the sidelines of the Saint Petersburg Economic Forum that Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavarov has received an invitation to the Berlin 2 Conference from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas .

Bugdanov said the UN Secretary General Special Envoy to Libya Jan Kupis will visit Moscow next week for talks with the Russian Foreign Minister.

German Foreign Ministry has announced that a new round of Berlin 2 would be held on June 23, and would be attended for the first time by the Government of National Unity.

A German Foreign Ministry statement said the Conference will focus on the steps that have to be taken to ensure sustainability of peace and stability in the country and the forthcoming elections.
