The Russian Defense Ministry claimed on Wednesday the country’s air defense systems thwarted Ukraine’s drone attacks on military facilities located in Crimea.

Speaking at a press briefing in Moscow, ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said six unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down, and another four neutralized by means of electronic warfare.

“There were no casualties and destruction,” Konashenkov said.

Another 15 drones were shot down in the battle zone in the eastern Ukraine, he added.

In March 2014, Russia annexed Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula, a move denounced by the UN General Assembly, EU, and the US.

Russian authorities on Tuesday reported multiple attempted drone attacks in several regions bordering Ukraine.
