Royal Navy Assists 118 Would-be Irregular Migrants in Tarfaya

Rabat – A Royal Navy combat unit intercepted, on Sunday, two boats located 22 km and 19 km southwest of Tarfaya carrying a total of 118 irregular migrants, which included 9 women and 3 minors.

According to a press release from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the migrants, originating from sub-Saharan and Asian countries, were attempting to reach the Canary Islands.

Upon interception, the individuals were provided with necessary medical treatment on board the naval vessel. Subsequently, they were transferred to the Royal Gendarmerie for standard administrative procedures, said the same source.
