Rome: The recent meeting in Rome between the two parties involved in the Libyan conflict has been described as “very important” by US Presidential Advisor for African Affairs, Massad Boulos. This meeting marks the first direct dialogue between the sides in a considerable period.
According to Libyan News Agency, Boulos highlighted in an interview with Al Jazeera that the discussions in Rome focused on practical steps towards the unification of Libyan institutions and the achievement of lasting national unity. The US advisor underscored the necessity for a long-term and solid resolution to the Libyan crisis, one that would be acceptable not only to the conflicting parties but also to the broader Libyan populace.
Boulos also disclosed that representatives from both sides of the conflict frequently travel to Washington, D.C., for discussions aimed at finding a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the ongoing Libyan crisis.
