Beirut: Retired military personnel staged a sit-in outside the Finance Ministry building in Akkar Governorate on Saturday, protesting the difficult living and economic conditions.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, participants demanded the payment of their overdue financial dues and an increase in their retirement pensions to cope with rising prices and the high cost of living.
The protesters also raised banners emphasizing “protecting purchasing power” and linking salaries to inflation. They called on the relevant authorities to “take immediate action to preserve the dignity of retirees and their families.”
Security forces were deployed around the Finance Ministry building to ensure security, with no incidents reported.
The participants affirmed their continued peaceful protests “until their demands are met,” calling for “a serious dialogue leading to practical solutions that take into account their rights and the status of public finances.”
