Tripoli: Discussions on resuming consular work at the British Embassy in Tripoli have been underway. Abu Bakr Ibrahim al-Tawil, Director of the European Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity, met with Ben Rawlings, Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Libya, to explore ways to support and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to Libyan News Agency, the ministry announced on its official page that the meeting was organized to mark Rawlings’ assumption of duties as Deputy Ambassador. This meeting was also part of the follow-up on recommendations approved during a previous meeting held in Tripoli on July 14, which included the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa at the British Foreign Office.
Among the discussed recommendations was the resumption of the consular section’s work at the British Embassy in Tripoli. This move aims to alleviate the difficulties faced by Libyan citizens seeking British visas. Additionally, the discussions included the possibility of lifting the ban on Libyan civil aviation.
During the meeting, Ben Rawlings assured that the British Embassy in Tripoli is actively working on these issues.
