Qubad Talabani expresses concern over postponing the electoral process in Kurdistan

Baghdad , Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government Qubad Talabani expressed his concern over postponing the electoral process.

The regional government stated in a statement: “Talabani met with a delegation from the United Nations, headed by Claudio Cordone, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, for Political Affairs and Election Support, and witnessed discussions on the political situation in the region, and the issue of the Kurdistan Parliament elections.”

According to the statement, this meeting was held on the occasion of extending the work of the United Nations Mission in Iraq, one of whose tasks is to assist Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in holding fair and transparent elections.

Talabani expressed his pleasure at extending the work of the United Nations Mission in Iraq, hoping that they will play an important role in holding the elections for the next session of the Kurdistan Parliament, so that their results will be trusted by the cit
izens of the region.

He said: “There are no longer any excuses or arguments to postpone the election date further, especially since the Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq has made all the necessary preparations to hold the elections.”
