Tripoli: The Presidential Council has issued a stern warning regarding the current unjustified escalation within the nation’s political landscape, highlighting the potential threat it poses to the country’s relative stability.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Presidential Council, in its official statement released this evening, urged both the House of Representatives and the Council of State to set aside their differences and focus on the national interest instead of short-term objectives. The Council emphasized the urgent need for consensus on appointing individuals to sovereign positions, as outlined in the Political Agreement and its annexes, to prevent the nation from descending into another crisis, compounding the existing challenges faced by its citizens.

The statement expressed the Council’s concern over the escalating political tensions marked by unilateral actions, which are reciprocated by similar measures from other institutions, risking the fragile stability currently in place. The Presidential Council reaffirmed its dedication to advancing the roadmap for a comprehensive political solution, particularly the provisions concerning the unification of sovereign institutions, within a defined timeframe.

The Council’s statement also conveyed a commitment to actively address the stagnation and delays in fulfilling national duties, asserting that it will not passively observe these issues. Instead, the Council is prepared to take necessary actions to rectify these shortcomings, aiming to preserve the unity of the nation and its institutions while ensuring progress towards stability and consensus.
