President of the Pan-Arab Parliament underscores need to find Libyan-Libyan solution to the Libyan crisis and withdrawal of foreign troops from the country

Cairo-President of Pan-Arab Parliament Adel Al Assumi stressed the need to bring about a purely Libyan-Libyan solution to the Libyan crisis and the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country.

This came at a press conference Al Assumi held at the end of the fourth conference of the Pan-Arab Parliament on Saturday in Cairo, during which the conference approved a document entitled “Parliamentary vision to achieve security, stability and the advancement of the current Arab reality” to be forwarded to the Arab leaders at their next summit in Algeria.

Al Assumi said at the conference that the document “contains all issues, challenges and threats related to the Arab scene”, notably the Palestinian issue and the crises in Libya, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and Lebanon, as well as “confronting external interference in the affairs of Arab countries.”

He added that the document also includes the topics of “combating terrorism and extremist ideology”, nuclear security in the region, Arab water security and Arab climate security, as well as promoting human rights, empowering women and youth and developing education in the Arab world.

With regard to the Libyan crisis, Al Assumi stressed that “the Arab parliament supports Libyan legitimacy and the steps of the Libyan Parliament because it represents legitimacy,” stressing the need for “the withdrawal of foreign forces and a pure Libyan-Libyan solution to the crisis.
