Tripoli, The Crisis Committee of the Ports and Maritime Transport Authority announced on Friday that an accident in the Al-Bouri off-shore oil field killed six workers and injured a number of others, indicating that the accident was caused by separating the floating tank from the field’s connection point.

In a statement published on the authority’s SMS page, the committee stated that it had received a report from the Zawiya oil port that an accident occurred at 2:30 p.m., as a floating tank broke off in the field, which led to killing of six workers, all of whom of Tunisian nationality.

The committee indicated that it was assigned to investigate the accident, to start collecting inferences, prepare a report in the matter, and to liaise with the administration of the Zawia oil port, the National Oil Corporation, Mellitah Company and the representative of the authority in the Bouri field.
