Participants in the Arab-African Conference on Food Security call to establish a distinguished Food Security Center.

Tunis, 10 October 2022 (Lana) Participants in the Arab-African Coference on role of Public and private sectors in enhancing sustainable agriculture and Food Security , called for establishment of Food Security center, to set strategies of food security in Libya and the neighboring Arab and African states.

The participants stressed on the recommendations they issued at the conclusion of their conference ,which was organized by the National Planning Council and continued for 3 days in Tunisia ,the need to help members states in transition towards the transfer and settlement of food and agricultural technology to increase productivity in quantity and quality..

The participants stressed on their recommendation ,the importance of improving supply chains, preserving resources, coordinating joint strategic programs, and contributing to raising storage capacities.

They also recommended to support the improved seed centers and gene banks and working on preparing regional project specializes in blue economy, enhancing the partnership between the general and private sectors, developing strategies for sustainable development and joint response to climate change and its repercussions.

The recommendation called to adopt financial policies for small and medium projects to enhance food security and participation of civil society and specialized organizations play a prominent role in following up policies for the region’s general food security.

Deputy PM of the GNU Hassan Al-Qatrani attended a part of the conference with the participation of experts and specialists in food security and agricultural development from Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Chad, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Gambia, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Belgium, Switzerland. Spain, and France.
